KAZAKHSTAN
The largest landlocked country in the world, Kazakhstan is notable for its varied landscape, which includes everything from desolate steppes to alpine scenery and deserts and interesting ethnic mix.
Kazakhstan lies at the heart of the Eurasian steppe, at the cross-roads of some of the world’s most ancient civilisations. To its south lie monuments that tell of its long history with the great trading routes of the Silk Road, whilst its northern landscapes offer up vast sweeping steppes that cover one-third of the entire country.
WHERE TO GO
Although much of the country remains rural, there are several cities offering amazing experiences in Kazakhstan. The futuristic capital Nur-Sultan illustrates the development and evolution that many areas of the country have undergone in recent years whilst the ancient city of Turkestan acts as a reminder of its fascinating history.

Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan and once served as the capital during the Soviet Union. SHYMKENT
Shymkent is an ancient and fascinating city. Founded in the 12th century, Shymkent used to be a caravanserai alongside the Silk Road. PAVLODAR
Pavlodar is more of a quiet city with a rather long history. It is most known for the Mashkhur-Jusup Mosque and the beautiful Cathedral of Annunciation. Alongside the river is an old trail that will lead one to the River Station, from which one can get a summer boat ride. Pavlodar also boasts of several nightclubs and is known for the old Chekhov Theatre.
