LEBANON

Lebanon is located in Western Asia, bordering Syria and Israel to the north and east, respectively. The location of the country at the crossroads of the Arabian hinterland and the Mediterranean Basin has shaped a distinct ethnic and religious identity.

BEIRUT

Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon, is aptly known as the ‘the Paris of the Middle East’. It is the commercial, cultural, and tourist center of the country. The city’s vibrant nightlife and rich historical legacy make it one of the topmost tourist destinations in the country. From ancient sites to eateries and shopping centers, you can find it all in Beirut.

TRIPOLI

Tripoli is the second largest city in the country, situated to the north of the capital city of Beirut. The history of the city dates back thousands of years. A number of historical sites and structures are located here that speaks volumes about the history of the place. The clock tower and the Palm Islands Nature Reserves are the important tourist attractions.

TYRE

Tyre is a popular historical city located in Lebanon. Visit the city to enjoy various wonderful attractions available here. From sites of historical importance to sophisticated cafes and eateries, you can find it all in the Lebanese city of Tyre. The Triumphal Arch and the Al Mina ruins are sites of great historical importance located in the city.

BCHARRI

Bcharre is a town that is situated towards the north of Lebanon. It is hailed as the birthplace of the world renowned poet and philosopher Khalil Gibran. There’s even a museum in the town that showcases his best works. The town contains many tourist attractions, including the ski resorts, delicious eateries, restaurants, and shops.

HARISSA

A beautiful city in Lebanon for religious celebration, Harissa is the home of the Lady of Lebanon. You will see here a statue of the Virgin Mary watching over Mount Lebanon. Declared by Pope Pius IX, the beautiful shrine was erected in honor of the 50th anniversary of the “Immaculate” conception dogma.

ZAHLE

Zahle is an important city situated in the Beqaa Governorate in Lebanon. The area is known as the “Bride of the Beqaa” due to its scenic landscape, pleasant climate and wonderful riverside restaurants. The Berdawni promenade is a notable tourist attraction located in the city alongside the Berdawni River.

WHAT TO DO

Lebanon is filled with both ancient and modern charms. Beirut is a cosmopolitan city of gourmands, Qadisha Valley boasts beautiful landscapes dotted with Arab Christian monuments, Byblos, Tyre and Sidon offer a glimpse into the origins of civilization and Baalbek is a Roman site par excellence. There are attractions and activities aplenty in this increasingly thriving nation. BEIRUT NATIONAL MUSEUM

It is located on one of the most high-end streets of the city, formerly known as the Green Line. Housed in an extravagant Italian-style white mansion, the National Museum of Beirut proudly displays the archeological artifacts that offer visitors and locals an overview of the country’s history.

TEMPLE OF BACCHUS

It is one of the best preserved temples in the Roman world, and was constructed during the first half of the 2nd century AD. Carvings of grapes and poppies on the main entrance of the temple indicate that worshipers used wine and opium in their cult. It is a peripteral temple with a 42 column peristyle surrounding the cella. 

BEITEDDINE PALACE 

The sumptuous Beiteddine Palace dates from the 18th century and was the seat of the Emirate of Mount Lebanon. Perched on a cliff in the region of Chouf, it’s a very photogenic place.  It is known for its elaborate design and intricate decorations, with detailed carvings adorning the interior walls.

HARISSA CABLEWAY

Jounieh is one of the most holiest places in Lebanon which is visited by Muslims and Christians alike but it is the Lady of Lebanon which most come to see. The massive statue can be reached by the Harissa Cableway which carries people from the coastline and up 600 meters to the peak of the mountain where the statue has been erected.

SOUK EL-HARAJ TRIPOLI 

Situated northwest of the city, Souk El-Haraj is the oldest and most famous commercial bazar in Tripoli. The Souk (market) is thought to have been built in the 14th century on the site of a former church. Souk El-Haraj is distinct from other souks of Lebanon for having four gates that guard the central yard. 

THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

The AUB is the most prestigious university in the city. The historic buildings are interspersed with botanical gardens, a bird sanctuary and a private beach on the 61 acres of land that comprise the university. The archaeological museum here is a must-visit and houses a large collection of important ancient artifacts.
